INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE AT
COCKPIT-FEST – 14/15TH JUNE 2008
– NEWARK AIR MUSEUM
PART 2 – THE INTERIORS/COCKPIT-RIGS
This will be the ninth event in the Cockpit-Fest series, and allows us to re-affirm the aims and structure of what we wish to attract. As an owner of material within this section, NAM would like to invite you to attend the above event.
Although never
properly acknowledged as such, this has been part of the event from the first
day, when the earliest participants in Cockpit-Fest brought along instrument
panels and control columns/grips from an assortment of aircraft. This has been
a small, but growing part of the event ever since, so much so that for 2008 we
feel the need to set out just how far reaching this section becomes, and to
encourage its growth as it strives to reach its true potential and runs
alongside of cockpits as an individual show in its own right. A new type of
display to acknowledge is the “Cockpit-Rig”, this is defined as parts/panels of
a cockpit displayed together, but without the outer shell.
Think of what goes inside of an aircraft, be this a large or small one, and you will see the scope that is available for collection, items would include, Ejection Seats, Flying Clothing, Uniforms, Flying Helmets, Instrument Panels, Control Columns, Gun Turrets, Survival Equipment, Radios, Engines, Sick Bags, Menus, or anything else that fits.
Collections, or individual items, from the above subjects, or others that may have been missed from this list, are encouraged to contact NAM with a view to displaying these items at the above event. While we do have a limited number of tables and display boards there will never be enough for everybody, so self-sufficiency is essential, and with many wishing to display outside a gazebo would provide useful protection from the weather. The option of displaying this material within one of the Display Halls remains, and should be regarded as an ideal overnight storage position, as they are locked when the museum closes for the day. We ask participants to remember that your collection may not be fully understood by all visitors, so labelling the collection would allow an increased enjoyment, and understanding, to be gained from your pride and joy as the public view it. We can allow as much space as required to display in, so no matter how large your display is we can cope.
Warning, you will need to reply to the next
bit please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To allow us to plan space on what will undoubtedly be a very busy weekend, we would need to have confirmation of your intent to participate at this event, and an idea of the size of the exhibit itself. The more information we receive from you, the better our service to you can be. Please also see the other requested information on the event information sheet.
Yours Sincerley
